What Salvation Is

Jesus spoke about two entirely different roads in life in Matthew 7:13-14. The wide road is one that characterizes individuals who are born into this world naturally. We all find ourselves on this road. The Bible says that when we are born naturally, we have the natural inclination to sin for all have sinned. Romans 5:12, “Therefore, just as sin entered the world through one man, and death through sin, and in this way death came to all men, because all sinned.” Jesus illustration of the wide road gives us the indication that something is drastically wrong. Why are so many going that way? Why is it so wide and why is it leading to destruction?

The answer is found in Romans 3:23, “For all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God.” We don’t have the tools, nor the know-how, nor the power to get off the wide road to hell on our own. We really didn’t have a clue that anything was wrong until someone came to warn us. That someone is Jesus Christ. That is why he gave us the story of the two roads.
One leads to destruction, death, hell and the grave. The other leads to life, peace and eternity in heaven. What road are you traveling on right at this very moment? If you are on this wide road, Jesus said the exit to the narrow road is to go only through him. John 14:6, “Jesus answered, ‘I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.’” How does one go through Jesus to receive forgiveness of one’s sins and receive the gift of life? “John 3:3, “In reply Jesus declared, ‘I tell you the truth, no one can see the kingdom of God unless he (or she) is born again.’” One must place your faith and trust in Jesus Christ.

How do you call on God? In a sense, it's easy as A-B-C.
A = Admission. Admit you are a sinner.
B = Believe. Believe that Jesus is God's Son and that He is your personal Savior through His suffering on the cross for your sins.
C = Confess your sins to Him.
